Oh no, uh-oh, it’s that word – ono, onomata – onomatopoeia
At Verandah Magazine we love the sound of onomatopoeia – a word that is derived from the Greek word for name, and phonetically imitates, resembles or suggests the source of the sound that it describes, as our friends at AUM PR have described. In other words, a word that means the imitation of a sound – oink-oink or meow are other good examples. And get this, of course onomatopeias exist in all languages, but differently, so the sound of a clock may be tick-tock in English, but katchin katchin in Japanese.
