This week’s Word of the Week from the lovely folk at AUM PR, is ‘irenic’ – an adjective that describes something that is peaceful. You might say, “My sisters and I fought a lot as children, but as we got older our relationship became more irenic.”
Eirene was the Greek goddess of peace and Irenic is from the Greek word eirēnē, which means peace. Eirene was one of the Horae, or Hours, and she also represented the season of spring. Today, the adjective irenic still maintains its peaceful meaning, as governments are continuously searching for irenic solutions to world problems.
