Fiesta de la Musica returns to the Gold Coast in 2017. Celebrating the best of classical music from around the world, the festival will continue to offer a series of free lunchtime performances on the first Thursday of every month.
Commencing Thursday February 2, the monthly performances will showcase a variety of local professional musicians and guest artists, including lectures and workshops presenting the highest calibre of live classical repertoire.
‘Soul Infusion’ features Barbara Prestia and Angela Smith as they fuse their classically trained soprano voices with piano, violin and didgeridoo in an anthology of original compositions and works of the Masters.

This will be an enchanting performance of both classical and modern music on an instrument with more than 3,000 years of history behind it.
APRIL
Kaylene & Co

After writing and performing children’s songs, stories and poems for many years, Kaylene Carruthers will take The Terrace stage bringing crowd favourites such as ‘Dinosaurs Could Rock ‘n Roll’ and ‘The Late for School Blues’. Recognised for Songwriting Excellence (ASA Awards 2015), Kaylene’s warm and enchanting style entices children of all ages and engages listeners through her cleverly nuanced music and lyrics.

Mellow Cellowdrama
Thursday 4 May, 1.00pm – 1.45pm
Cellists Belinda Manwaring and Tim Blomfield will feature classical works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Krummer and Offenbach, highlighting the dramatic qualities of the cello and its similarities to the human voice. This performance will be an intricate exploration of music and sound with only the cello, tugging at everyone’s heartstrings.
JUNE
Intermezzo – QA Style
Thursday 1 June, 1.00pm – 1.45pm
The Queensland Academies join us at Fiesta de la Musica with some of Queensland’s most exceptional young musicians. These students balance the academic rigour of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program with their passion and love of presenting fine music so come along and be delighted by their talent and expertise.
